Johanna Ogle

Johanna first started with Donner as the Lead Age Group Coach in August of 2023; prior to DSC she spent two years as a high school coach in Kentucky and four years coaching all ages at swim clubs in Kentucky as well as Michigan. She swam competitively for 14 years, starting her high school career undefeated in Marquette, MI, then moving to Ann Arbor before her sophomore year. She went undefeated as the Michigan High School State Champion in both the 100y and 200y Freestyle events during her three years with Ann Arbor Pioneer. Along with numerous individual state championships while swimming with Club Wolverine. She attended several Junior National Championships and National Championships throughout high school and into college. Her success in the pool lead to being recruited to swim for the University of Louisville, where she swam, met her husband Ben, and received her bachelor’s degree in Sports Administration.

After graduating from UofL, Johanna and her husband moved to Columbus where Ben had grown up and swam for Donner Swim Club in the early 2000s. Johanna decided to take a few years off from coaching to start a family, she and Ben now have two boys.

Her experiences swimming for and coaching alongside several coaches have shaped her coaching philosophy to what it is today. Johanna realizes the importance of providing a positive coaching style that helps the athletes develop core values of perseverance, integrity, discipline, and great character. All of these traits not only help the athletes achieve success in the pool, but also success in life. She is dedication to utilizing drills and improving technique, recognizing that both are instrumental in raising the athlete's bar of success throughout their swimming career.
